When One Door Closes, Another Opens

There are so many numerous quotes out there about how our life is an equation of the choices we make. And adding to those quotes will be those that tells us that if we badly want something, there'll definitely the means to it.

I have made the choice - to pursue a degree. And last week, on 22 July 2008, my first day into my pursuit began. It will be at least 3 years before the flowers blossom. But I believe, with enough air, light, water and warmth...the seed I'd just planted, will bear fruits that will feed me a lifetime.

I screwed up my A-Levels, and I thought that'd be the end of it. But I was determined to realise my childhood dream - to be a teacher. Hence, I got myself to take the Dip Ed program, with intention to study hard...so that I could cross-over for a degree. However, at the end of the 2 years...low and behold... I couldn't make it to the cross-over because my A-level results weren't good enough for entry into NTU.

I was like..."What the...! They ignore the Dip GPA and bother about my A-Levels instead?! What's the use of scoring for the Dip then?!"

You can imagine the curses and swearings. But I decided to cool down and fall back on my belief - there's a purpose to everything. Well, I am enjoying my teaching life now...at the same time pursuing my degree, albeit in SIM.

That brings me to what Randy Pausch mentioned in his last lecture about how brick walls are there not to stop you, but to differentiate between who wants to live their dreams so badly.

3 years is a long time...but I hope...I will get there. If I badly want it, there's surely a way to achieve it.
