I haven't engaged myself in any physical training for quite some time...yet I decided to go for this MacRitchie hike.
Went there with Lup Peng, Desmond, Desmond and Herman...and no, that's not a typo, there were 2 Desmonds...lolz!
Going back to MacRitchie was somewhat reliving my memories when I was in J05. A bunch of CIs and myself hiked form MacRitchie to Bukit Timah via Tree-Top Walk with the leadership of Edwin Tan.
As we entered the park, I can't help but feeling quite peaceful in the serene environment of the park. Maybe I've not been to a park for such a long time.
I was quite paiseh when I was feeling to tired out and my NCOs were still going strong...or maybe they were just too tired to talk...lolz. But nevertheless, their continuous walk made me persevere...teamwork huh?
Throughout the walk I was actually processing on what else can be done at the park. It can be one of the activities for the camp. So far I conclude it will be quite fine, probably just a lot of preparation to be done...lolz!
After about a little more than 10km, about 4 hours in the park , we left MacRitchie. Though my legs were pretty sore...I felt good! Lolz...it just made me wanna start training again...but well...depends on my mood for now.
Headed to Beach Road to buy some lamps. Well, the school has only a few lamps. Hence, decided to buy so that the cadets can have experience of lighting lamps and also see the parts of the lamp.
3 Hurricane Lamps - $10
1 Pressure Lamp - $27
I had a better offer of 1 pressure lamp at $24 initially. Sounds like a good buy...only that it looks dusty at first sight.
"This is a new lamp. You are my regular customer so I give you special price...$24"
"I need one with box"
"Oh, the box has been thrown away"
After leaving that shop and headed for the shop next door which sells at $28, the first shop-owner seems persistent...
"I give you the best price... $20"
"Wow," I thought "that's a price too good to be true!"
"If you have any problems, you can just come back to me and we will replace anytime"
I checked the 2 dusty pressure lamps that she had and had these findings...
- I couldn't attain pressure
- there was kerosene in the Pump
- The rubber washer is spoiled
- There was a sediment on the leather washer
Conclusion: I bought the Pressure Lamp from the second shop at $27
Lesson:
If you don't play with the game, the game will play you
Don't trust that lady every again... -.-
Well , after hike and shopping, we headed back. I was satisfied enough with how the day went. I hope those who went benefited from it as well.
