Friday, 21 July 2006 - Saint Hilda's Secondary School Founder's Day
That was a rushing day... left my school for home at around 1545hrs.
I quickly took a bath, get changed and left for Saint Hilda's on a cab. Manz...the cab fare was $7.20.
I reached the unit when they were practicing their March Past. What a way to start my day in the unit when I saw the way the NPCC supporting contingent marching. Needless to say, they were the 'best'.
They went for another round of practice...only to do almost the same standard.
However, the highlights of the Founder's Day (for me), are not really about the parade itself...
Highlight 1Firstly, I am very proud of the Parade Commander - CI Jeremy Koh aka Nemo aka my dear good friend. Oh well, not that I am his mother or something...but I've seen him progressing since he was in Sec 1. Jeremy has been a casualty-prone cadet when he was in secondary school...I am not sure if it is irony that he now is a pro in handling casualties because of the experiences he faced in the medic room while he was a cadet...
Jeremy was also one blur guy who often got lashed for his blurness...but now...so much difference. I never seen him as a Drills person...but that Friday seems to be a start...a good start for him. And yeah, I am darn happy for him for being such a spontaneous, vocal and extroverted in NPCC now...he did a great job as a Campfire MC...solid la! One thing that is remains constant about Jeremy...he is always putting in a lot of effort and pride in his responsibilities.
Give me ONE Nemo clap....mmph
Give me TWO Nemo claps...mmph mmph
Give me THREE Nemo claps...mmph mmph eckkkk!
Highlight 2Secondly, I was and still am very happy to meet my Station Inspector of the unit...SI Lau Weibin aka my PA (personal assistant).
Weibin has been my pride and motivation of the unit. I think I've mentioned about him in my earlier entry. But I'll restate it here anyway.
A very disciplined, respectful, determined and responsible cadet who has a very good learning attitude...Weibin has always been the examplary cadet who sets reasonably high standards for himself as well as for others. It is encouraging to me to see him maturing in NPCC since the first time
I met him.
He is progressively realising the vision I have for him...and I hope before he officially pass out of NPCC next year in Sec 5, he will be the Lau Weibin I envisioned.
SHSS Founder's Day 2006 was the first time I actually took pictures with him. Being an ass as he is, the second picture I took with him wasn't so er...proper...zzz. Lolz!
I will save the rest about him till next year. For now, my main priority is to see him doing good enough for his N-levels so that he can proceed to Sec 5. All the best, my friend!
Highlight 3During the Founder's Day...I heard my school song again after about 6 years of not singing it. I'm quite surprised that I can still remember it. And for that moment in time, I actually had quite sentimental feelings about the school. Maybe cos of the fond memories that school have brought me.
A decade of years into being related to the school...and maybe in more years to come.
