A Humane Teacher
Today I learnt another new point from my Teacher Mentor in Parry Primary, Ms Catherine Lim.
She made me remember what I've long lost forgotten...that a Teacher is a human whom children fail to see because the Teacher failed to bring that point across.
She told me how showing some care and share by the teachers can let the children see that the Teacher is a human like them after all. And with that, the rapport between the two parties can improve. When there's rapport, a better learning environment can be created.
For every moment Ms Lim was telling me about it, I wasn't actually thinking about my teaching career...I was reflecting about my times in NPCC.
I guess if I have another chance, I will try a more humanistic approach. I guess I am already on route to that. Since CIBTC J06, I have somewhat took a different approach as a CII...but sometimes it is inevitable that my old self have to show itself.
Well, my teaching career is still in the making. And I do hope I can touch the lives of the kids that will be under my wing. Just how big will my classroom be?
Thank you, Ms Catherine Lim, for that inspirational wake-up call.
