NPCC Annual Parade 2006
Alright, I haven't updated my blog for a long time. It is so tiring to do blogging. But once started, I think I usually have a long story. So yeah, if you have nothing else better to do, here's my 'grandmother's story'.

THE YEAR WAS 2005. That was the first time I officially participated as an Instructor during NPCC Annual Parade. My purpose was simple - to help out in the parade in the drill aspect because I like parades and I like drill and I wanna learn a lot more about them...and also to make new friends.

And hence, during that year...

I forged new friendships...mainly ppl like Daniel, Peck Hor, Kamaliah, Eng Kuan, Fadzil.
enforce old ones...mainly ppl like Dennis, Andrew, Wen Liang, Yan Han, other Marists, Nelson, Masyura.

and other varieties...mainly ppl like Danny, Simon.

My role was simple, to train the GOH and then become a reserve Ceremonial Flag-Bearer. And yes, I think I've fulfilled my role.

THIS YEAR, it was not much different. I came with the same purpose, but added one more - to audition for the PC. Well, I did fulfill my purpose, but I didn't go to the next step - to be the actual PC. But nvm, I still have the whole list prior to that purpose.

And so I was the in the Flag Party - Gold Units and Ceremonial flag-bearers.

MAIN PLAYERS
DENNIS - Manz, this is my best buddy in NPCC. Lolz! I've been to almost every single NPCC event together with him since I know him when he was in sec 4. How time flies...now he's in JC2. He is really my right-hand man in NPCC and has been a great buddy in personal life too. We can hardly stop talking when we meet...the list of topics can just go on and on...manz!

NELSON - this is supposedly his last main event in NPCC before he enters NS. This guy is one committed soul in NPCC. He is so well-liked, respected and even idolised because of the way he potray himself. There was a different perception I have of him during the parade but ya, I prefer to look on the better side of him. I didn't manage to do what I intended to though...and that is to acknowledge his contribution in front of a mass. Regret. But ya, overall, I would say Nelson has done a great job in handling the NPDP06!

PAUL - this is the 2nd drill dictionary I would refer to if I can't get FI Firdous. Haha! Though narcissistic at times, I guess he can't help it knowing he is so slim, youthful-looking, knowledgeable...and other adjectives he enjoys fitting to himself. If you need a drill reference, you can ask him. I hope he will say yes to participating in SYF06.

JIA HONG - okay okay...this guy I knew whom he was since he was in Sec 3. And now, in JC1, I get to work with him. Alright, a drill siao...I don't think I am as siao as him. Haha! I shared lockers with him...but sadly now got to clear the whole locker. There was once a while I got on his nerves but I hope he don't take it to heart. Oh well, I always got on ppl's nerves. I appreciate the knowledge he has shared with me throughout the process.

WEI CHANG - This guy has really grown...physically. I don't remember having to look UP at him last year in CIBTC. This year in NPDP06, I always have to look UP to him because he has grown taller. But I guess this is the first and last event I will be working with him.

JUST LIKE LAST YEAR...
I forged new friendships...Ms Loy Wei Kiin, Jia Hong, Yi Xuan, Mandy, Bastian, Eng Khye and numerous other D05s whom I dunno their names...oops!

enforce old ones...mainly ppl like Dennis, Paul, Nelson, Li Quan, Wei Chang, Fadzil, Mei Sze, Danny, Simon, Masyura, Ahmad
and other varieties...mainly ppl Chun Ping aka Raymond.

HOWEVER, the Annual Parade has caused a few setbacks as well.

RELATIONSHIP - I really love my Dear so much. I am really very thankful to have a very understanding Dear like her. My schedule has always been very tight but I really appreciate all the accomodation she's done for me. Thank you, my Dear...I love you so much!

FRIENDSHIP - While NPDP06 has forged new friendships for me in NPCC, it has deprived me of many friendships I could have out of NPCC. Many outings I could have with my fellow NIE friends have to be sacrificed because of this event. Somehow or rather, I think it has hurt my non-NPCC social circle and I really feel the pinch now. I wonder when I will ever listen to their advice, but for now, I think they have given up on me. I hope they will give me a chance.

ACADEMICS - Okay, somewhat, my focus on academics have been thwarted. I wasn't as focused as last year. With this loss of focus, I feel that it has indirectly affected my friendship as well. And of course, a direct impact onto my grades. I really hope that I will be doing well enough for my exams. Not that my time management is so bad, it is just not as good as last semester's.

WHAT I'VE LEARNT
I really have to PRIORITISE. I have to weight between what is worth my time and what is not. Seriously...is it worth the 4 months with all that NPCC has affected me so far? Time management skill is a must, Zaki!
I have to treasure the friendships I have and not take anything for granted. I hope to make up to the friendships which are dangling.
